Job Description

Position Summary:  Assesses, coordinates and monitors the delivery of individualized services to facilitate housing stability for victims of domestic violence who reside in the emergency shelter. Assist clients in overcoming immediate barriers to obtain housing and provide case management and crisis intervention. Provide survivor-centered advocacy and support survivors in their efforts to safely retain their housing and gain stability.  Assist survivors and advocate on their behalf to overcome common barriers to stability such as negative rental history, unemployment, and lack of resources. Administer rental assistance funds. Develop safety and service plans to address crisis needs and planning for long term stability.

Key Responsibilities:
•Facilitates housing classes for victims of domestic violence.
•Provides on-going case management and housing related assistance to victims of domestic violence who are at risk of becoming homeless.
•Assists clients with completing applications for Dallas Housing Authority (DHA), Housing Choice vouchers; corresponds with DHA staff when necessary; calls and updates former/current clients regarding their status with DHA.
•Verifies and documents client’s eligibility for assistance through the Emergency Solutions (ESG) grant.
•Assists clients with finding housing using current guidelines from the Emergency Solutions (ESG) grant.
•Performs off-site habitability inspections at apartments to ensure HUD standards and livability.
•Conducts home visits once clients are placed in housing.
•Maintains up to date information and knowledge of the available community resources for the referral process
•Conducts intakes and assessments; provides crisis intervention services as needed.
•Works as a member of a team to insure appropriate case management for assigned case load.
•Maintains accurate and confidential records on each client for assigned case load, (progress notes, reports, and other required forms).
•Represents The Family Place and participates in community education as requested.
•Participates in training programs, seminars and workshops to update professional knowledge.
•Meets regularly with supervisor as arranged. 
•Provides reports and/or accurate statistical information in a timely manner.
•Maintains work schedule as required by program needs with adequate flexibility.

Other Duties:
•Attends agency staff meetings.
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Requirements:  Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Related Human Services field is required. Experience with housing programs and case management is required. One to two years experience in crisis intervention and/or domestic violence issues preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, cultural diversity and diverse socioeconomic levels of clients
•Knowledge of MS Office, including Word and Outlook
•Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solutions for clients
•Ability to listen to clients, verbally to establish trust and safety
•Ability to maintain confidentiality
•Ability to relate with clients through understanding, respect and skilled communication.
•Ability to follow all safety and precautionary rules and measures.
•Ability to perform work efficiently and effectively under stressful situations.
•Ability to prioritize and self motivate to accomplish job goals.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to perform physical task such as stooping, reaching, bending, climbing to interact with clients including children with the ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment.  Some local travel required to complete housing inspections, home visits and attend community meetings.
