Job Description

Position Summary: Coordinates and delivers 6-session Classroom Education curriculum to groups of 3rd-12th grade students in elementary, middle and high school students located in Dallas and Collin counties; delivers sessions to other community based youth organizations, including associated presentation with teachers, staff and parents.  15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinates and delivers 6-session Classroom Education curriculum to groups of 3rd-12th grade students in elementary, middle and high school students located in Dallas and Collin counties; delivers sessions to other community based youth organizations, including associated presentation with teachers, staff and parents.
• Provides crisis counseling for youth who have made outcries as victims of bullying, sexual and/or dating violence.
• Facilitates Be More Leadership groups for graduates of the Classroom Education program in schools requesting and approving the service; co-facilitating the bi-monthly community-based Be More group meetings with other Be Project staff, including attending special events and awareness raising activities.
• Assists with curriculum development efforts, including developing new activities, designing new handouts/flyers and updating and improving community presentations.
• Supports the program’s social media activities by regularly posting on sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and monitors activities.
• Completes necessary administrative tasks such as statistical reports, timesheets, progress notes, etc.
• Develops and implements primary prevention strategies and activities to address the goals in the Texas primary prevention plan entitled: Preventing Sexual Violence in Texas, A Primary Prevention Approach.
• Coordinates efforts to engage the community in primary prevention strategies and activities.
• Conducts primary prevention approved activities as appropriate.
• Conducts complementary strategies including community mobilization, coalition building, policy activities and social norms change.
• Submits accurate and timely performance reports capturing primary prevention activities.

Other Duties:

• Attends primary prevention training as needed and required by the Office of the Attorney General.
• Attends employee staff meetings and supervision meetings.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development, Education or similar field and at least 2 years of working experience in a related environment.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of bullying, sexual violence and other dating violence.
• Knowledge of the psychosocial needs of youth at various stages of development.
• Knowledge of various teaching techniques to engage youth and effectively deliver curriculum.
• Knowledge of MSWord, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience and ability to work with a diverse background of students.
• Skilled in facilitating educational curriculum/lessons with groups of youths.
• Skilled in public speaking and presenting to groups of youth and adults.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the different schools and times the youth are available; ability to work some evenings and weekends.
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written.
• Ability to have access to reliable transportation to travel throughout the DFW Metroplex area.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Mental and Physical Abilities:

The employee must be physically and mentally able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation without a direct threat of injury to the employee, co-workers, clients or donors. These include:
• Ability to work evening hours and facilitate group sessions at various locations in the Dallas Metroplex.
• Ability to drive to different locations in the Dallas Metroplex to facilitate group sessions and/or attend training or make educational presentations.
• Ability to tolerate prolonged periods of sitting as necessary to perform duties.
• Ability to walk, stand, lift and carry light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated, which may be relieved by brief periods of standing or walking. Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment.
