Job Description

Position Summary:  Responsible for providing educational/parenting groups and coordinating children’s services for children and their families who have experienced and/or witnessed domestic/family violence in Residential Services.    Full Time, 11:00am-7pm, Tuesday - Saturday

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Coordination/Event Planning Responsibilities
•Responsible for volunteer coordination, engagement, rapport building (in support of the Volunteer Manager) of all activities involving children. 
•Responsible for planning, scheduling and implementation of regular children’s activities for all children in residential services as established by program need.
•Markets and facilities parent engagement activities i.e. placing reminder calls for events/important meetings, conducting weekly parent training classes at each location.
•Provides transportation for clients to children events when necessary, using agency vehicles.
•Coordination of special events for Residential Services including Adopt a Family.
•Provides community presentations on topics related to domestic violence, children raised in violent homes, etc.

Training Responsibilities
•Attends and participates in weekly supervision and staff meetings.
•Maintains current professional knowledge of family violence and crisis theory; including lethality assessments, safety planning, community resources, etc.

Recordkeeping Responsibilities
•Orders and distributes basic need supplies for children in Residential Services i.e. diapers, formula emergency food items.
•Maintains inventory of donated and purchased items for Residential Services . Manages the distribution process of items to TFP staff.
•Ensures all children supply closets are always fully stocked and organized.
•Ensures data entry into Clients First is accurate and current.

Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child Development or similar, and a minimum of one to three years working with victims of domestic violence or experience working in a shelter environment OR a Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, child development or similar and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a domestic violence shelter or similar.  

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence
•Knowledge of experience in intervening in crisis situations using sound professional judgment, ethical practice and common sense.
•Knowledge of intermediate skills working with MS Word, Outlook and an Intranet system.
•Skilled in interpersonal, and communication skills (written and oral) are required.
•Ability to work effectively with clients and staff from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
•Ability to gather data and prepare documents for program grant reports.
•Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Mental and Physical Abilities: Must have emotional and physical stamina to tolerate prolonged sitting or standing to deal with a variety of stressful situations, including responses to complaints, difficult requests from programs and individuals in crisis, and internal and external interactions, to effectively work long and odd hours, while maintaining a sense of humor and composure.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (up to 50 lbs).  Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
