Job Description

Responsible for providing individual and group services in a non-residential setting for children who have experienced and/or witnessed domestic violence. Services include assessments and clinical interventions to address behaviors and reactions related to PTSD symptoms and trauma exposure; parent consults and family sessions.  Daytime hours and flexibility required for two evenings per week.

•Conducts clinical assessments of children and adolescents to identify any developmental or emotional difficulties resulting from either direct abuse or being a witness to a parent's abuse.  Consult appropriately with the parent and other authorized persons. 
•Provides individual counseling services to children and adolescents; sessions may include TF-CBT, play therapy, filial therapy, or other therapeutic interventions as determined by the needs of the clients.
•Facilitates weekly group counseling  for children and teens. Provides parenting consults and groups to empower parents with skills and strategies to increase their effectiveness and improve relationships with their children.
•Establishes supportive relationships with all children’s parents in order or provide parental consult when necessary: specifically, limit setting and consequences, nurturing, communications and socialization.
•Provides intakes and individual counseling to a small caseload of adult clients with no children.
•Maintains documentation, including files on each child, progress reports, and any other required forms.
•Meets regularly with the Program Director for case staffing and supervisory sessions.

Other Duties:
•Reports all suspected cases of child abuse as required by law.
•Maintains current professional knowledge of crisis intervention, case management and counseling for children impacted by domestic violence; keeps up to date information for community resources available to clients.
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Child Development or related field. Licensure required – LMSW/LPC-Intern/LMFT-A or LCSW/LPC/LMFT. Experience in TF-CBT, child assessments, group work and play therapy required.  Minimum of 2 years experience working with children who have experienced trauma – e.g., witnessed and/or experienced domestic violence, physical abuse, sexual abuse.

Licenses & Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Counseling licensure required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Knowledge and experience working with victims of trauma, specifically children.
•Knowledge of the long term effects of domestic violence.
•Ability to perform physical tasks such as stooping, reaching, bending, climbing to interact with clients including children;
•Ability to relate with children through understanding, respect and skill communication;
•Ability to evaluate or display insight into individual behavior;
•Ability to  follow all safety and precautionary rules and measures;
•Ability to prioritize and self motivate to accomplish job goals;
•Ability to perform work efficiently and effectively under stressful situations.
•Ability to follow professional code of ethics.
•Ability to work a varied schedule, including 2 evenings.

Mental & Physical Abilities:
•Ability to drive personal vehicle or company vehicle to visit sites or perform other duties for the position.
•Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
•Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light to heavy objects (less than 50 lbs.) infrequently.

Working Conditions: Work may be performed in an office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like but not limited to the office environment.
