Job Description

Develops and asses children’s case plans to address developmental and therapeutic needs and provides case management, assessment and family support.

Work hours: M-F, 11am-7pm

Key Responsibilities:
•Assesses and develops case plans to address children’s developmental and therapeutics needs.
•Consults with and makes recommendations to the mother, school personnel, and the mother's Case Manager, regarding the needs of the child.
•Develops and facilitates therapeutic groups for specific age children.
•Establishes supportive relationships with children's mothers in order to provide parental intervention when necessary in areas of discipline, nurturing, communication and socialization.
•Develops and implements procedures for referrals to community resources.
•Conducts intakes and assessments for children.
•Prepares and presents cases in staffing for feedback regarding intervention.
•Works as a member of a team to insure appropriate case management for assigned case load.
•Provides adult supervision for activities.
•Maintains accurate records on each child for assigned case load, (progress notes, reports, and other required forms).
•Responds appropriately to subpoenas.
•Assists in facilitating parenting groups for women.
•Provides crisis intervention services as needed.
•Works with program volunteers.
•Provides safe transportation of children when necessary, which includes driving agency vehicles.
•Represents The Family Place and participates in community education as requested.
•Conducts home visits as required.
•Participates in training programs, seminars and workshops to update professional knowledge.
•Meets regularly with supervisor as arranged. 
•Provides reports and/or accurate statistical information in a timely manner.
•Maintains work schedule as required by program needs with adequate flexibility.

Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field.  Bilingual Spanish required.
 
Licenses and Certifications:Valid Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, cultural diversity and diverse socioeconomic levels of clients
•Knowledge of MS Office, including Word and Outlook
•Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solutions for clients
•Ability to listen to clients, verbally and non verbally to establish trust and safety
•Ability to maintain confidentiality
•Ability to relate with women through understanding, respect and skilled communication.
•Ability to evaluate or display insight into individual behavior.
•Ability to follow all safety and precautionary rules and measures.
•Ability to perform work efficiently and effectively under stressful situations.
•Ability to prioritize and self motivate to accomplish job goals.

Mental and Physical Abilities:
•Ability to perform physical task such as stooping, reaching, bending, climbing to interact with clients including children;
•Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment. Ability to work after hours and weekends, when necessary.
