Job Description

Position Summary:  Responsible for providing teen dating violence, sexual assault and bullying crisis intervention, group and prevention services to students in grades 3-12 in the Dallas and Collin County school districts.

Key Responsibilities:
•Coordinates and delivers multi-session Therapeutic Group curriculum to high school students located in Dallas and Collin County as well as other teens in community –based organizations
•Provides group and individual counseling to youth who identify as victims of bullying, sexual and/or dating violence. 
•Coordinates and delivers multi-session Classroom Education curriculum to groups of 3rd-12th graders in elementary, middle and high school students located in Dallas and Collin Counties, including associated presentations with teachers/staff and parents.  
•Facilitates Be More leadership groups for graduates of the Classroom Education and Therapeutic Group programs in schools requesting/approving the service; including attending special events and awareness raising activities.
•Completes necessary paperwork on new clients and maintains current and existing flies.
•Completes necessary administrative tasks such as statistical reports, timesheets, intake paperwork, progress notes; attends employee staff meetings and supervision meetings.
•Provides reports and or accurate statistical information by designated deadlines. 
•Coordinates The Family Place services for children and their families as deemed appropriate.

Other Duties:
•Reports all suspected cases of child abuse as required by law.
•Maintains current professional knowledge of crisis intervention and counseling for adolescent victims of bullying, sexual and/or dating violence; keep up to date information for community resources available to clients.
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Requirements: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or similar field and minimum of two years paid or nonpaid experience working with adolescents providing counseling and crisis intervention, training, curriculum development and experience presenting to groups or commensurate experience.

Licenses and Certifications:
•LMSW or LPC/LPCi Required
•Valid Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
•Knowledge of bullying, sexual violence and dating violence.
•Knowledge of the psychosocial needs of youth at various stages of development.
•Knowledge of various teaching techniques to engage youth and effectively deliver curriculum.
•Knowledge and experience working with victims of trauma.
•Knowledge and intermediate skills working with MS Word, Outlook and an Intranet system.
•Experience in intervening in crisis situations using sound professional judgment, ethical practice and common sense.
•Ability to relate with adults and adolescents through understanding, respect and open communication.
•Ability to work effectively with clients from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
•Ability to quickly assess situations with individuals as they present.
•Ability to conduct individual and group sessions both process and psycho educational groups.
•Ability to meet deadlines.
•Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
•Skilled in public speaking and presenting to groups of youth and adults.
•Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the different schools and times the youth are available; ability to work some evenings and weekends.
•Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written.
•Ability to have access to reliable transportation to travel throughout the DFW Metroplex area.

Mental and Physical Abilities:
•Ability to work evening hours and facilitate group sessions at various locations in the Dallas Metroplex.
•Ability to drive to different locations in the Dallas Metroplex to facilitate group sessions and/or attend training or make educational presentations.
•Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
•Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.

Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).  Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment.
