Job Description

Position Summary: Assists with the day-to-day financial activities and process improvements of the accounting area through the timely and accurate performance of general ledger, A/P and A/R functions. Provide financial analysis and ad hoc reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

•Performs general ledger and month-end close functions as well as GAAP research, which includes financial reporting for internal and external use.
•Reconciles general ledger accounts; reviews reports and ensures deadlines are met with data integrity and within internal controls.
•Prepares thorough analyses and presentations when requested.
•Supports special projects and “Best Practices” process improvements.
•Works with stakeholders to facilitate financial understanding.
•Performs grant-related post-award functions, including budget and expense analysis, periodic invoicing, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
•Assists management staff to monitor the use of grant funds for compliance with the grant’s intended purpose.
•Organizes lease and contract files.
•Attends training and other meetings as assigned.

Other Duties: Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or financial field (12 hours in accounting) with at least 2 years of work related experience. Master’s preferred.

Licenses or Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in advanced MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint software.
    Skilled in conceptual, analytical and organizational skills.
    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and practices and principles.
    Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
    Ability to organize own work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines.
    Ability to communicate and interact effectively with stakeholders.
    Ability to work with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities for the Family Place.

    Mental and Physical Abilities: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

    Working Conditions: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs).  Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment.
